In stellar metamorphosis, simple matter phase transitions are very important.
In the star sciences all thermodynamic phase transitions are ignored. Do not take my word for it, look for yourself, stellar evolution mentions absolutely nothing about basic phase transitions:

It is centered around the science fiction of fusion, gravity being an electromotive force (which it isn't), and the hyperdelusional belief of the weight of an object determining what it will become.
If you will notice, the amount of enthalpy (heat) determines which direction the phase transition will head (for the most part). Thus an easy conclusion of stellar metamorphosis is that the enthalphy is lost over the star's life span, until it is a completely solid ball.
