In deposition a very voluminous gas solidifies into a very compact region of solid material. This can also be known as gas crystalllization and is the process with which a gas giant forms its rocky interior over many billions of years. All the rocks on Earth and all ancient black dwarfs were once completely gaseous matter (gas giants, as well as fully ionized stars).
In gas sublimation a very compact solid transitions directly to a very voluminious gas. This can be seen in dry ice (carbon dioxide).
For future reference it is further noted that solid state physics is vastly more important than "particle" physics. I do not understand why "particle" physics went so wild in the 1960's and on. They really need to get off that horse its a dead end.
