Plasma Recombination/Ionization
© Jeffrey J Wolynski

In recombination the free ions combine with free electrons to form stable "atoms".

In ionization the "atoms" are broken apart into free ions/electrons.

This is a very poor description though and will need to be revised in the future, as it does not account for magnetism, or the actual differences in matter such as the differences between gold and oxygen.
