Chandler's Astrophysics Video Project

Charles (and I?) is contemplating or planning to make a video of his CFDL model. Maybe we'll discuss the planning of it here (and or elsewhere).

Take it Easy

Instead of trying to do everything at once, Charles, it may be better to do a short video every week or two. For example, of the following, you could do one each week or each two weeks, or maybe two at a time sometimes etc.

1. Dusty plasmas can collapse primarily only under the electric force; and growing filamentary Debye sheaths or implosions are the means (I don't understand the implosion part)

2. The smooth surface of the photosphere, which is a very thin gas-like plasma, can be caused only by the electric force

3. The electric force can only be sustained in the form of initially current free double layers, each double layer being paired positive and negative charge layers

4. The smooth photosphere surface can only be held down as a positive layer pulled down by a negative layer below

5. Solar granules form from S-waves caused by electric tidal forces from the planets

6. Supergranules form similarly at a greater depth

7. How electrons from depth move through the positive photosphere and join the solar wind

8. How protons and other positive ions join the solar wind through CMEs etc

9. How sunspots, white light flares etc form

10. In the next video, how CFDLs behave in rocky bodies like Earth

You could use the illustrations you already have at first and comment and point to parts of the illustrations as you're commenting. And as you or a friend gets time later, you could make some of the illustrations video images. It would be interesting to me to see a video of a collapsing dusty plasma. Another video of electrons and ions leaving the photosphere and joining the solar wind. One of granules and supergranules. One of sunspots, maybe with planetary alignments and solar tides and S-waves.

I created a folder for Video Scripts, because undoubtedly, it will quickly become too much material for threads. But we can discuss the issues here, while you can also add comments there. I was thinking about starting a little closer to home, namely with geophysics. People are more familiar with the topic, and it's more relevant. So I'm working on an explanation of the geomagnetic field in terms of CFDLs.

You're the boss. Will you be interested in discussing your solar or stellar model with Stephen Crothers eventually? If so, do you have a date and venue that my friend can arrange with him? Maybe he'll be interested in your explanation of Earth's magnetic field etc too.

By the way, starting the video project with explaining Earth's magnetic field seems like a good starting point. After your first video explains the field, the second one may need to explain why CFDLs are the only explanation for many Earth features. For the Sun, I could see how the electric force is the only explanation of the smooth photosphere and that only a negative layer under a positive layer can produce the photosphere. But for the Earth, offhand it's harder to see that there's only one possibility, or that there are any positive and negative layers at all.

Your series of videos will need a title, I suppose. How about "Geophysics that Makes Sense" or "Geophysics that Makes Total Sense" or "Sensible Geophysics" or "Totally Sensible Geophysics"? And then for the Astrophysics series, substitute "Astrophysics"?

I'd be happy to discuss stuff with Crothers. It's outside his specialty, which is relativity, but IMO, a critical mind is a critical mind, and sometimes the best suggestions come from a critical mind dabbling in a new discipline. So it might turn out to be very productive. For venues, Facebook is too chatty. TB or QDL would work.

In case it happens, there's a thread for the discussion called Current Free Double Layers & Debye Cells at http://thunderbolts.info/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=14906 .
