Citations
In QDL, citations are links to other posts in QDL, set to display an automatically-generated number, or a bibliographic reference, instead of the title of the referenced item. The cited post can be a regular HTML document in QDL, or the post can be in RIS format.
To create a citation in QDL:
- Navigate to a QDL post you want to cite as a source in your own work.
- Click the Action Menu icon (), and select the Copy Link option ().
- Navigate to the derivative work of yours.
- Click the Action Menu icon (), and select the Paste Link option ().
- Click the Action Menu icon (), and select the Edit Full option ().
- Position the cursor inside the link that is to be turned into a citation.
- Click the Insert/Edit Link button () in the toolbar.
- In the Internal tab, set the auto-number to citation (or to biblio, for a bibliographic reference).
- Click the Insert button.
- Click Submit.
- The link will now show as a numbered citation (or as the author & date for a bibliographic reference), and there will be a References and/or Bibliography section at the end of the document, showing the rest of the information.
Alternatively, if you're already editing the derivative work of yours:
- Position the cursor where you want the citation to appear.
- Enter some dummy text.
- Select it.
- Click the Insert/Edit Link button () in the toolbar.
- Click the Citations button.
- Search for the citation by author and/or title.
- If you can't find the source you want to cite,
- click the New... button,
- enter the URL of the source, and
- click Submit.
- Copy the ID of the QDL, and paste it into the URL box of the Insert/Edit Link dialog.
