TinyMCE Tricks
The TinyMCE editor used in QDL is the best in the business. It supports all of the features of HTML, and is the least quirky of any of the JavaScript-based editors. The icons are all industry-standard, so if you know any WYSIWYG authoring system, you already know how to use TinyMCE effectively. But here are a few items that deserve more explanation.
Paste as Plain Text
When pasting plain text from another source, all of the line breaks get lost. Use this tool, instead of the normal keyboard shortcut for pasting, to get HTML-formatted text that looks more like the plain text original.
Paste from Word
MS Word uses large amounts of HTML code to accomplish the desired presentation styles. If you ever need to edit HTML directly, you dread having to work on a document created in MS Word. If you're pasting text from MS Word into QDL, you can use this tool to simplify the HTML.
Spell Checker
Firefox and Safari users should be sure to click this to turn on spell checking. (Safari users can even right-click the editor to change the options.) Unfortunately, the spell checker doesn't work on Internet Explorer or Chrome.
Lists
You can easily do nested lists, by increasing the indent when in list mode. To start a new item with a decrease in the indentation, simply hit the Enter key the number of times necessary. Once creates a new line at the same indentation. Twice preserves the indentation but removes the list marker. Thrice removes one level of indentation, with a new list marker.
