Charles Chandler: Current-Free Double Layers (CFDLs)
This model has heavy elements, similar to the works of Manuel/Mozina/Ratcliffe, but also maintains that some of the elements have been compressed to the point of ionization, which sets up 5 layers of alternating electric charges in current-free double-layers. The energy release from the Sun is then the conversion of that electrostatic potential into arc discharges that emit heat & light.
