Standard Model
This model holds that there are only two forces responsible for keeping the Sun organized: gravity (pulling in), and hydrostatic pressure (pushing back out). The energy source is nuclear fusion in the core. This generates gamma rays, which are absorbed and re-radiated repeatedly on their way toward the surface, getting redshifted and smeared into a 5525 K black-body continuum by the time they exit the surface.
