mark-up
These are the common formats for webpages. HTML is the default in QDL.
-
HTML
- This is the default data type in QDL. Loose transitional HTML can be pasted in, but everything is saved as strict XHTML, which displays correctly even on primitive browsers (such as PDAs).
-
RSS
- This is a variant of XML used for describing updates that have been made to one or more websites. This data type is present for a future implementation of RSS feed reading inside QDL, where the feeds will be remote data sources.

SVG
- This uses XML to define graphical entities such as lines, rectangles, circles, gradients, etc. Support for editing and viewing SVG in QDL is currently under development. SVG data can be pasted into the text editor, and it should display properly when saved. To edit the data, you have to use the text editor to copy the data, and then use the "full" editor, which invokes SVG Edit. You can paste the data into that editor, and then edit the drawing using those tools. Then you have to copy the XML, and paste it back into the text editor.
- SVG can also be designated for calendar category summaries. See Calendar for more info.

XML
- This is like HTML, but does not make the assumption that the data constitute a web-page, where the tags designate formatting options. So XML can describe a web-page, or it can be used for a database dump, where previous generations might have used a CSV file.
