These are text files containing computer programs. They will get syntax highlighting when displayed in QDL. If the executable bit is set on the containing folder, JS and/or PHP will run, and you'll see the results of the code's execution (i.e., whatever the PHP echoed and/or whatever the JS wrote to the document), not the code listing itself.
