It's always hardest to summarize one's own religious background. Indeed, to a Christian, it is impossible to explain. You have to be a Christian in order to understand it. This, of course, is what all people say. When it's someone else's religion, we think that the whole thing can be reduced to a brief outline. Then we try to explain our own culture to someone else, and think it laughable that a quick summary would cover it. (We should remember this when studying other religions.) Regardless, we have acknowledged that it is the religious frameworks that are mutually exclusive, and these can be sketched out and compared.
