Definitions
The difference between stellar and solar models is that in stellar modeling, we have a little bit of information on a lot of stars, and in solar modeling, we have a lot of information on just one star. Both studies can certainly inform each other, but insofar as the data only partially overlap, the topics are distinct. So stellar modeling focuses on the general questions of how stars are born, what changes they go through during their lifetimes, and how they die. Solar modeling is concerned with the current state of one star in particular (i.e., ours).
