Supernovas are not dying stars at all. A dying star combines its elements into molecules as the charge neutralizes and forms what are called "rocks". Dead stars are very familiar objects: the Moon, Mars, Mercury, Pluto, etc.
Supernovas are something completely different. They are something new, not dying, thus the "nova" = "new". We must examine language first if we are to have genuine understanding. Similarily the definition of "planet" has always been "wandering star", yet ignored. Why? Scientists ignore language, to them spoken speech, the most powerful technology to date, is not important.
