Re: Cook's Saturnian Cosmology

Jupiter, the bull of heaven, Jupiter the midnight sun

Cook has unearthed a great deal of information on the role of Jupiter. This massive planet has always been a satellite of the Sun, and was instrumental in causing the breakup of the Saturnian system in 3147 BCE.

In his words,

"The catastrophe of 3147 BC involved more than the disappearance of Saturn from the north sky. It involved the near "collision" of 8 planets. What most likely happened in 3147 BC is that Saturn, together with Earth, Mars, Mercury, Venus, Neptune, and Uranus, "ran into" Jupiter, which was then located probably at 0.7 AU from the Sun."

This is the bull of heaven, the usurper, who eventually left to an orbit further from the Sun, past the asteroid belt.

"The title of "Sun" was transferred from Saturn to Jupiter virtually everywhere in the world. The Egyptians simply relocated their original creator God, Ra ("sun"), from the North Pole to the ecliptic. The title "Sun" for Jupiter was deserved, for after Jupiter left the asteroid belt, it would have lit up the night sky brighter than the Moon. Plutarch suggested, in circa AD 200 (in Isis and Osiris), that Jupiter was seen at first as a globe three times the diameter of the Moon. That's big.

Jupiter would indeed have blazed like a sun once it left the asteroid belt. In historic times the comas of comets have managed to light the night sky to the point of blotting out the stars. Comets are only a few miles in diameter; Jupiter is 89,000 miles in diameter. The Maya of classical times (AD 400 to AD 900) still called Jupiter "the Midnight Sun," as did many other peoples in historical times."

Jupiter's primary feature was its plasma tail:

"The tail of Jupiter, a plasma in glow mode, might have extended a half billion miles away from its south pole. Because Jupiter has a very strong, but reversed, magnetic field (unlike comets), most of the plasma expulsion would leave the planet at the location of its north magnetic pole — at the bottom. This tail is the mountain that Marduk rose on, "in the center of the sky," or, as the Egyptians describe, "in the primordial waters" — the Duat. The few depictions we have show the plasma as a very steep mountain.

A much smaller funnel-shaped plasma appeared above the globe, suggesting horns where the edges were most dense. In this form, this was the "Bull of Heaven" who had destroyed the home of the Gods."

Re: Cook's Saturnian Cosmology

As I read through Cook's opus, "Recovering the Lost World", I am struck by how much information he has gathered together in one place. Some people fault him for a perceived lack of research in corroborating his material, but I think this misses the mark. While true that he doesn't match the depth of comparative mythology studies that Cardona or Cochrane does, he however covers more ground.

It appears Cook has made great headway in his research by uncovering dating found in the Chilam Balam, a 16th century Mayan text that brings together ancient sources. His four-year study of this important document has allowed him to match up this information with Western sources. Also helpful is the Guatemalan Popul Vuh, which he references.

Cook has developed sophisticated ephemeris tables allowing him to calculate dates for different Earth calendar years, recognizing that the Earth's orbit has changed twice since the Saturnian breakup in 3147 BCE. He also readily understands the various calendar dating schemes of the Maya.

Alongside this knowledge base, he has an uncanny ability to see various orbits, inclinations, and visual angles between planets. This seems an important skill in being able to suggest how various vantage points around the Earth led to different cultures having different perceptions of the planetary interactions.

Cook is also an electrical engineer and has a grounding in the physical sciences that allow him to better understand electrical-plasma interactions.

Lastly, he is willing to take an additional leap and address the psychological and social implications of the planetary catastrophes. He brings in Julian Jaynes' classic work, The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind to show how human perceptions developed over time.

Add this all up and you can see that his contribution to the story of Earth and its planetary neighbors is great indeed. I have a hunch that the breadth of his material is more than many people are willing to ingest. I know from my own experience that it takes many sittings to take in what he has to offer.

I can't vouch for the full integrity of his research, but I resonate with it, and particularly enjoy his many epiphanies of long ago human experience.

Someday Cook will have his due, but for the time being he is a diamond in the rough. Those that take the time and pursue his scholarship will be richly rewarded.

At risk of further sounding like a sycophant, I can say that he has helped me open my eyes to a degree I never imagined, while recognizing that Talbott, Cardona, Cochrane, et al have given us marvelous shoulders to stand on.

I suggest all Thunderbolts take a meander through Cook's finishing school if they want to complete their journey through the heavens.

to deny the obvious and explain the otherwise inexplicable...The ancients LIVED in FEAR !!! :o

Re: Cook's Saturnian Cosmology

Promethean - how about abject terror?

I agree that mankind must have been filled with fear and superstition due to the planetary upheavels. Can you imagine the chaos and upset that arose when we saw that the god was returning and about to turn our lives upside down?

I think this is what happened during the time period after the end of the 'Era of the Gods" (3147 BCE), until 685 BC when the heavens finally quieted down. So much happened during this time period. Read Cook's work to get a handle on how often this happened.

IMO, I think this led to social systems of subjugation that took advantage of these vulnerabilities. Humans gave up much of their power to despotic kings and conniving priests in response to these fears. We would do anything if those who ruled us would promise to placate the gods to leave us alone - how about human sacrifice?

Re: Cook's Saturnian Cosmology

Changing Calendars

The study of calendars used throughout history and across cultures, is another way to explore Earth and planetary changes. The Earth's orbit dictates the length of a solar year. Currently it is 365.24 days. It has not always been so. In fact it has changed four or five times since the Saturnian breakup in 3147 BCE. (In an earlier Thunderbolts post I erroneously said two).

The knowledge of these changes is little known, but there is ample evidence. Cook goes over this in detail in his Appendix A, Notes on Chronology:

http://www.saturniancosmology.org/chron.php

The following is a brief summary:

The story of Earth's change in orbit is a study of Earth catastrophes. Calendars ended and new ones began because of these events. Mankind has continually fiddled with calendars in an effort to keep up with the changing heavens.

Cook posits there was a 225 day year during the Era of the Gods, based on the Egyptian King list record for the period called "kings before the flood". The flood is dated at 3147 BCE and was the cataclysm that ensued when the polar water bulge was released.

When Earth detached from Saturn it ended up in an orbit with a 240 day year.

In Cook's words:

"The 240-day year was originally found by inspecting the data of the "kings after the flood," but it can also be inferred from the remnants of calendars in use in the following era (as in dividing the year up into 4 60-day periods, as in China). The 240-day year would have been in effect from 3147 BC through 2349 BC. The equivalent orbital distance from the Sun would have averaged 70.3 million miles (0.75 AU)."

The next change in the calendar occurred in 2349 BCE, marking the end of the Egyptian Old Kingdom. This was brought about by Venus and its massive plasmoid bolt that broke up Earth's equatorial rings called the Absu by the Mesopotamians and the Duat by the Egyptians. This flood was from the heavens, raining down its debris and water, accompanied by endless rains. This is the "flood of Noah" and is also the time of the first appearance of the Moon, which stabilized within an estimated period of 35 years.

"It is at this time that we see the first indications of calendars in widely separated regions of the world. The Earth is now 74 million miles from the Sun (0.797 AU), and the year had extended to 260 days.
The regular appearance of the Moon became the calendar, signaling to everyone the days for religious festivities. There were, during this first period after the fall of the Absu, ten months of 26 days each. At the end of ten months, the year and the cycle of religious observances started over.

The 260-day year is an acknowledged number, which shows up in Mesoamerican sources as the Tzolkin calendar. The Chilam Balam makes specific mention of the addition of "days of the year" at this time. "

Following this we have a calendar year change in 2193 BCE due to another outburst from Venus making an electrical contact with Earth. With this event climatic changes are recorded worldwide, with social upheavals and abandonment of settlements spanning two hundred years. Egypt's Middle Kingdom emerged afterwards.

…."the Akkadian empire fails and the Old Kingdom of Egypt comes to a close. Worldwide there is a lack of rain, or a lack of light, lasting years. Mesopotamia and Egypt (and other locations) take up to 200 years to recover.

The Earth is now 77 million miles from the Sun (0.83 AU). The year went to 270 or 280 days (probably 273 days). I suspect that the number of months in the year stayed at 10, each approximately 27 or 28 days long. Mesoamerican culture accommodated this easily by extending their 20 by 13 Tzolkin calendar by another cycle of 13 days, and just ignoring the fact that their calendar was now 13 days short. Other people apparently adopted 10 months of 27 and 28 days to fill the year."

Cook has the following to say about Venus and its impacts in both 2349 and 2193 BCE:

"I would suggest, as others have also, that the planet Venus was the agent of the disturbances in 2349 and 2193 BC. In fact, we can be certain that Venus appeared a total of four times during this period. The first appearance of 2349 BC was absolutely spectacular and, at the same time, so psychologically disturbing to people the world over that this single event is frequently recorded as the very start of history — often as a retelling of the flood of 3147 BC (as in the "flood of Noah"), coupled with the first appearance of the Moon. The most frightening aspect of 2349 BC was what looked like the collapse of the ocean in the south sky, the Absu. It was thought to have fallen onto the Earth like a flood, for the commotion in the sky was accompanied by endless rains and storms. The other disturbance was that the sky turned blood red."

This period of 156 years of instability (2349 – 2193 BCE) caused by Venus's regular visits could be considered as one drawn out change in the length of the Earth's year, or as two different distinct events.

Following on, we have another change in 1492 BCE called the "Earth Shock", which marks the end of the Middle Kingdom and the beginning of the New Kingdom. This was caused by a catastrophic electrical event with Venus once again, which hadn't shown up since its last appearance in 2193 BCE.

"After 1492 BC the Earth's orbit increases significantly, to 0.99 AU. The 360-day year is a clear certainty from many records, and in effect up to 747 BC. The equivalent orbital distance from the Sun would have averaged 92.1 million miles. There were 12 months of 30 days.

The 360-day year is so well established from so many documents, that some researchers today just take it for granted, although students of antiquity have to apologetically add, "plus the five days," or make excuses for the people of this era with statements like, "they used an idealized year" or "they could not count." What an amazing statement! Counting would have been the highest science of the human intellect since the Upper Paleolithic."

In 747 BCE, at the end of the New Kingdom, we have the beginning of a series of visits from Mars, Venus, and Mercury that caused huge disturbances in the Mediterranean and Near East, with great loss of life. These catastrophes continued until 685 BCE, marking the beginning of the quiescence we experience today.

"After 747 the Earth assumed today's orbit of 93.2 million miles (1.0 AU), and a year of 365.24 days. The Moon changed its period to 29-1/2 days, but there were now slightly more than 12-1/3 lunar months in the year. This would cause no end of problems, for the lunar months no longer coincided comfortably with dates in the solar year."

So there we have it – an Earth in turmoil and an ongoing quest to create calendars and temples to enshrine these changes, to mark a moment in time when these cataclysms occurred and to create a system of regularity to measure the flow of time over the year. To me it is incredulous that this information is still hidden from view. Cook is making a major contribution to our understanding of Earth history to compile this material in such an accessible way.

Re: Cook's Saturnian Cosmology

806 BCE to 685 BCE

For approximately 120 years, the planets gathered together in one last fit of destruction. The extent of catastrophe is mindboggling. Mars, Venus, Mercury, the Moon, Jupiter, and Earth were all involved.

From Cook's chapter 24, The Destruction of Mars:
http://www.saturniancosmology.org/quet.php

"In mainland Greece, of 150 cities noted before the 8th century BC, only 13 survived to 650 BC. The same scale of destruction was experienced in Anatolia, the Middle East, and Italy. The period of 800 BC to 600 BC also saw the largest overseas colonization by the Greeks, as well as the virtual depopulation of the Eastern Mediterranean region and parts of Europe. De Grazia in The Iron Age of Mars (2009) estimates that of a Mediterranean population of 200,000,000 before 800 BC, only 5 million survived. The earlier level would not again be reached until AD 1900."

Mars was the major culprit, visiting repeatedly at 15 year intervals.

"During the various encounters of the 8th and 7th centuries BC, plasma interactions occurred between Venus and Mars, and between Mars and the Earth's Moon. These are described in the Iliad and the Odyssey. The Homeric Poems, which follow closely in time to Homer's epics, have similar descriptions."

And how about this?

"The Olympic Games in Greece were instituted in 772 BC (Wikipedia says 776 BC) to commemorate interactions between the planets Venus, Mars, and the Moon four or eight years earlier.

There had been over 600 years of a quiet sky, from 1440 BC to 800 BC. Then, within a span of a hundred years, Venus, Mars, and Mercury closed in on the Earth (or seemed to). The length of the year changed, Mars repeatedly cruised very close to Earth (five or nine times) to cause massive earthquakes and interplanetary lighting strikes which traveled across wide areas and were accompanied by hurricanes of ground-up rock and burning trees. Then, just as suddenly, after the nova event of Venus in 685 BC, which surpassed the Sun in brilliance and dropped fire from heaven over wide areas of the Earth, ending with a lightning bolt from Jupiter directed at the Sun, it all stopped."

What is most amazing, is Cook's research that has led him to specific dates and times for some of these events:

"The dates, on the Gregorian calendar and all in the astronomical year 685 BC, are as follows:
• Venus and Mercury start to blaze, June 15
• Jupiter develops a coma, July 9
• Jupiter releases a plasmoid bolt, July 14
• Jupiter's plasmoids lands at the Sun, July 25"

For me, reading Cook's chapters is a heartening experience - an eye-opening window into our obscure past. I recommend it greatly.

For me, reading Cook's chapters is a heartening experience - an eye-opening window into our obscure past. I recommend it greatly.
I appreciate your postings Andrew, as I just don't have time to read that huge work, even though I am interested, particularly in his dating of events. I am wondering though how his proposed dates tie in with what appear to be the alignments found in what are believed to be some of the oldest manmade structures such as Gobekli Tepe, or the temples of Malta. If the interpretation of some of these sites is correct, then they think they see alignments which were last observed around 13,000 years ago, meaning the Earth must be pretty well in the some position or orientation as it was then. Could the Earth have moved around or tilted and have ended back in the same position? The sunlight still passes through the same openings and illuminates objects in the temples, at the equinoxes, which would indicate a long term stability wouldn't it? Anyway, very interesting, and thanks again.

Re: Cook's Saturnian Cosmology

Thanks GaryN for your feedback. Cook's work is definitely a tome, and takes commitment to wade in and digest. It's a huge brain tease for me. To think that someone has actually sorted out much of the chronology of planetary interactions since the end of the Saturnian age is hard for many to grok, and by this I mean people who already have a handle on the work of Talbott and Cardona.

I notice that many people simply can't go there, and miss the chance to open their eyes further. There is a resistance I think, due mainly to that era being ascribed to Velikovsky and his unfortunate hodgepodge legacy with its partial truths and known errors. Also, it appears that the Thunderbolts gang has taken their eye off this era and is choosing instead to focus on the EU and Saturn complexes as their main contribution. This leaves it wide open for Cook and whoever follows in this effort.

Cook threads the needle between Velikovsky, de Grazia, Talbott, and Cardona in a most original way. Some day people will wake up to the huge contribution by Cook, but it seems we are still a ways off. The material is so deep, the impacts so varied and complex, that it is only for the few.

I will address your question about Earth's changing axis in a later post. I already addressed Earth's changing orbit, which caused new calendars to be drawn up due to the length of year increasing. Also, many temples were constructed to recognize new alignments after each catastrophe and thus are a record of what the sky looked like in a previous era. Cook addresses this fascinating subject in detail.

Changes in axis, whether polar shifts, magnetic field reversals, or whatever you want to call them, is a more obscure subject. Such change would have shifted climates and seasons, but not changed the length of year.

It is still a little out of my league, but it seems that shifts in axis were less important for humans and such changes are not so obvious in the historical/mythological record. Perhaps this evidence is more in the geologic record.

Re: Cook's Saturnian Cosmology

Earth's Axial Inclination (this is for GaryN)

Cook points to 685 BCE as a time when the Earth's axis shifted from 30 degrees to today's 23.5 degrees due to Venus' nova flare-up. As he states:

"Venus and Mercury blazed like suns in 685 BC (the year corrected from Eastern Mediterranean chronology) for 40 days, as the result of an unprecedented output by the Sun, which was brought on by the sudden reduction in the orbit of Mercury in the year previous. This electrical event changed the inclination of the Earth's axis.

In 685 BC the Earth's axis relocated from the center of the pan of Ursa Major to a location nearer Kochab (called "pole star" in ancient sources) in Ursa Minor over a period of 40 days. Discussed in the chapter "The Hour of Phaethon."

There is some evidence that the Earth once had an axial inclination of 26 degrees at the end of the era of the gods in 3147 BCE, and Cook explores this. In one of the later known catastrophes in the third millenium the Earth would have assumed a change to 30 degrees.

Also, he posits there were various Earth shocks that caused a temporary shift in axis, but like a gyroscope the globe reverted itself.

"As recalled by nearly all peoples on all the continents, the most terrifying incident happened in 2349 BC when an alignment with Venus (20 million miles away at that time) produced an Earth shock in the northern hemisphere, tilting the Earth's axis away from the Sun temporarily, and tilting up the equatorial rings of the Earth. This was followed perhaps six hours later by the arrival of a massive disconnected plasmoid lightning bolt from Venus which hit the rings almost broadside, followed somewhat later by lesser bolts, recorded in Mesoamerica and China."

As for the possibility of Earth having once experienced polar reversals he is clear:

"The Earth never turned over — at least not completely and certainly not permanently. This had been suggested by Velikovsky and others, but is a nearly impossible notion. I dispute this and discuss the origins of these notions in the Appendix "Polar Relocations Disputed."

The axial inclination change in 685 BCE was psychologically a big deal, in that it oriented the constellations differently, and moved the equinox 15 degrees. This brought in the notion that there was a god outside the heavenly dome, for how else could the entire reality have shifted so decisively. This was the unseen hand of god, not an obvious planetary god. After this event, the known gods deserted Earth for distant orbits, and the unseen god that had shifted the heavens was the greater god that humans could ponder on.

As he states:

"The change in the location in space to which the rotational axis of the Earth pointed is a change in the inclination of Earth's axis with respect to the orbit. After 685 BC the Earth was differently inclined toward the Sun; the climate would have changed. However, the change in the axial inclination would not significantly move the tropics or temperate zones, although it would move the Arctic Circle with respect to the pole. It would also not change the seasonal variation in climate. Climatic disturbances and fluctuations have been noted, however.

The orbit of Earth also remained the same. Only the starting date of the year shifted — by two weeks. A relocation of the vernal (and autumnal) equinox did not alter the calendars and would not have been noticed by farmers.

Although the altered sky was noted by everyone, the change in the equinox was only noticed by the astrologers and philosophers of the Middle East, Europe, China, and Mesoamerica. The sky had not really been thrown into disarray, but it had been moved — suddenly twisted — and, as was later observed, the equinox continued to rotate ever so slowly through the constellation Aries and further away from Taurus. It invalidated the tables which were used in Babylon to determine the start of the year and the predictions of lunar eclipses. The paths of the planets were confused and those tables also had to be redone.

Before 685 BC, the intersection of the equatorial and the ecliptic was directly below the Pleiades. Thus the Pleiades were seen directly above the rising Sun at the spring equinox. This is attested to worldwide, and matches retrocalculations for the previous location of the Earth's rotational axis. There was no precession of the equinoxes before 747 BC.

Note this last sentence, as this makes clear that various scholars, ie. Graham Hancock and others are incorrect in thinking that Earth's current precession is many thousands of years old. The trip through the zodiac that we know in our current astrology began only in the first millenia BCE.

In Cook's chapter on Olmec Site Alignments he goes into detail showing how various temple sites were oriented based on both the previous 30 degree axis and the later 23.5 degrees. This is more conclusive proof that temple building was all about marking these important ending and beginning of eras, and can be pinned down to exact dates!

"February 28, 747 BC — This date, representing the change in the length of the year in 747 BC, is firmly established from considerations of the Long Count, and it is also established with the first Olmec sites of La Venta and Tres Zapotes. Especially at La Venta it is significant that the alignment was revised after 685 BC to correspond to the new axial inclination of the Earth.

Alignments pointing to April 19, 1492 BC, occur at the Olmec sites of San Lorenzo, La Venta, and Cerro De La Mesas, and can also be implied for Laguna de los Cerros and Tres Zapotes — all conformed to a 30-degree axial inclination. These also occur at three sites in the Valley of Mexico. At the important site of Cholula in the Valley of Mexico, the horizon location for April 19 is defined under the condition of the current inclination of the Earth's axis."

Re: Cook's Saturnian Cosmology

Cook, Talbott, and Cardona

Cook's cosmology is very much aligned with both Talbott's and Cardona's presentation. However, there are a couple of main points where they disagree. Beyond these, there is material that only Cook has on offer. Foremost is the integration of Anthony Peratt's discovery of the Southern Ball Plasmoids, and what is now being called the Peratt Column below the south pole, existing prior to the northern Saturn conjunction. On top of that, it appears that Cook has unearthed some astonishing information regarding Earth's equatorial rings that existed for a time and which were destroyed in 2349 BCE. These rings gave the illusion of a moving sea in the sky. This was the Absu of the Mesopotamians and the Duat of the Egyptians. It was also known and recorded by Mesoamerican peoples.

Cook has two primary departures from the "traditional" understanding of the Saturnian complex laid out by Talbott and Cardona. First, Cook does not hold to the view that Saturn and its encapsulated planets hidden in its plasmasphere only recently wandered into the Sun's solar system. He believes that Earth was indeed once part of an embryonic Saturn complex, but that the Sun captured the Earth 250 millions years ago at the end of the Permian period, the second to last time Saturn novaed. This was when Earth's plant life radically changed and evolution was set back more than 100 million years.

Saturn was on a pattern to revisit the solar system every 26 – 27 million years on its incredibly long elliptical orbit, and during its last visit was itself entrained into the solar system (about 10 million years ago). Jupiter was the influence with its great mass and electrical charge that reined in Saturn, resulting in Saturn's diminished orbit. Then at the end of the era of the gods, it turned on Saturn and caused its demise – and we moderns wonder how the ancients could consider these planets as capricious gods!

Cook goes into great detail concerning the role of Saturn and its multi-million year influence over Earth being the lead factor in various catastrophes every 26 - 27 million years.

Eventually Saturn encountered its previous satellites, Earth and Mars as well as possible others, leading to the capture of the "well known" northern Saturn conjunction. This capture was not that of Saturn taking on revolving satellites at its equator, but of subpolar and suprapolar orbits that eventually stabilized into the configuration known during the era of the gods. This was aided by Saturn's great negative charge from having been far removed from the Sun's influence over many millions of years, which acted as an attracting force for its previous satellites.

The second most significant difference with the Thunderbolts view is the role of Venus and Mercury. Cook also subscribes to the birth of Venus out of Saturn at the beginning of the era of the gods when in his words, Saturn went nova for the last time. However, Venus was not the planet that sat between Mars and Saturn, Mercury was. For some reason, Mercury has been a mystery to many Saturnians and is not often discussed. Cook has a lot to say about Mercury (he has a lot to say about a lot of things).

As seen in the symbolism in the Egyptian eye of Ra, Venus is off to the side of Saturn and connected by a plasma stream. Is this stream the rib of Adam-Saturn, connected to the creation from out of his chest, Eve-Venus?

Cook believes that Venus was not part of the central conjunction. Instead of Talbott's Venus, the iris in the eye in front of Saturn was Mercury with its enveloping coma, which was in appearance many times bigger than Mars, which did not have an extensive coma. Thus, the wonderful and powerful image of the eye in the sky promoted by Talbott did exist in all its complexity and changing patterns, but brought to us by Mercury and its fluxing glow mode coma set against Saturn, with Mars as the pupil.

For many of us to consider Mercury in this position instead of Venus seems sacrilegious, since Talbott, Cardona, Cochrane and others have done such a wonderful job in bringing us this heartening imagery. However, it is best to keep an open mind and do the research as Cook has done, and form our own objective opinions. This story is still being written and it is better not to close down too early in our beliefs! More needs to be debated about these details.

Also important to recognize as unique to Cook, is his inclusion of Neptune and Uranus on the other side of the Saturn conjunction. He offers evidence revealed by the Venus figurines carved or molded by people in antiquity, these objects being a three dimensional representation of the Saturn conjunction. Above Neptune, the tilting forward head of the figurine is Uranus with its sideways axis.

Jupiter was clearly in a separate solar orbit and not part of the conjunction. It was however not on the other side of the asteroid belt where it is today, but nearby in an orbit closer to the Sun, as it played a key role in the breakup of the Saturnian system, and in planetary battles for a few thousand years thereafter.

He also deconstructs Thornill and Talbott's theory of Saturn's looping entry into the solar system over a 300 year period before the era of the gods and concludes that the physics don't support this conjecture and it is much too short a time frame for it to have happened in this way.

I give credit to Cook for going against the grain in coming up with some convincing alternative scenarios. I wish there was a way for Cook's views to be more widely aired so that others in a greater capacity than myself could address them. I feel he offers some compelling evidence, but for some reason has not been publicly debated yet. Is he a keeper of some critical missing information? He is certainly a Saturnian synergist, par excellence. Hopefully he will have his day soon…

Re: Cook's Saturnian Cosmology

Cook's Chronology

The following bullet points are taken directly from Cook's introduction in his chapter called "A Synopsis." This is from his web book, "Recovering the Lost World."

http://www.saturniancosmology.org/syn.php

I have extracted a partial list beginning with the earliest creation myths starting at the end of the Younger Dryas - 9,000 BCE. This is Cook's full chronology of the most significant planetary events from that period through 685 BCE.

Prepare yourself to be amazed at the extent and depth of this information. It is so all encompassing that you may roll your eyeballs. You may ask yourself, "Why haven't I heard of this information before? Has the Thunderbolts storyline left something out? Who is this Jno Cook anyways?"

In Jno's words:

• The mention in many creation myths of a period of darkness preceding creation can be dated to the early Neolithic or late Upper Paleolithic and is likely the result of nanometer dust particles in the stratosphere after a massive compressive force and lightning strikes by Saturn in North America. This caused the worldwide period of extreme cold, drought, and darkness, recognized today as the Younger Dryas period. For more on this see the chapters "Tunguska and Chicxulub" and "The Younger Dryas," with additional Mesoamerican retellings in the chapters "The Chilam Balam" and "The Popol Vuh." The cataclysm is addressed in papers by Richard Firestone, et alii, in 2001 (Mammoth Trumpet Magazine), and in 2007 (Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences).

• The clouded swirling skies which are found at the start of most creation myths are the result of Earth falling into a subpolar orbit with Saturn and subsequently entering the lower plasma plumes of Saturn's coma. See the chapter "The Event of the Younger Dryas" for a narrative and a consideration of the dynamics. This also coincided with the start of the Hypsithermal period in 9500 BC (for which see the chapter "A Timeline and Gimbutas").

• While traveling through the lower plasma formation of Saturn's coma, the Earth three times (at the two edges of the cup form and once at the center spike) experienced the formation of three ball plasmoids 150,000 to 400,000 miles below the South Pole, with lines of electrons connecting these and running past Earth to an object in the north skies. This started in 8347 BC, and ended probably in about 4200 BC. This was investigated by the team led by Anthony Peratt (of Los Alamos National Laboratory), and published in 2003 and 2007 in the IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science. The dates are from my findings.

• The ubiquitous female figurines found in the millions on millions worldwide, dating from the Upper Paleolithic and the Neolithic, are representations of Uranus, Neptune, Saturn, Mercury, and Mars as seen together in the skies overhead, enclosed in a coma. Discussed in the chapter "A Timeline and Gimbutas."

• The event (flood) of 3147 BC is visually correctly identified by Sumerian and Bible sources (although shifted to a narrative of 2349 BC) if it is assumed that Saturn and its planets passed Jupiter on the inside of Jupiter's orbit (at that time close to the Sun). The current orbital inclinations of the outer planets matches the expected vertical separations of the planets in 3147 BC. Discussed in Appendix B.

• The Palette of Narmer depicts Venus, Mars, and Uranus, where the pharaoh figure is Horus/Mars (and dressed as Saturn) — not some battle of unification for prehistoric Egypt, and with Mercury as the sandal bearer of the pharaoh. The bee and the sedge, as in "He of the Bee and the Sedge," is the pharaoh as Saturn, with Venus as the bee and Uranus as the sedge. See the chapters "The Creation," "The Start of Time," and the Appendix "The Palette of Narmer."

• The raven and dove let out by Noah to test the waters can be identified as the planets Uranus and Venus as seen from Earth directly after 3147 BC. The Mesopotamian flood myths identifies the same planets and adds Mercury.

• The report in the Bible and in Mesopotamian legends (and hundreds of additional flood legends) of a ship landing on a mountain after the flood is the backlighted crescent of Jupiter on top of a massive outpouring of plasma from the south pole of Jupiter. In Egypt, as in some Mesopotamian retellings of this event, this is also understood as an approaching celestial bull, which destroyed the city of the Gods.

• The biannual sightings of Mars between 3070 BC and 2750 BC are recorded as events in the dynastic records of the Palermo Stone of Egypt. See the chapter "Pyramids and Henges."

• The orbits of the inner planets have changed only minimally since 3147 BC. Most changes involved altered ellipticity or a rotation of the second nodal point. Planets have to line up exactly with the Sun to result in an electrical interaction of their plasmaspheres.

• The few interactions with Venus (which have been presented as "collisions" by others) occurred at distances of 10,000,000 and 20,000,000 miles. Electrical interactions with Mars occurred at much closer distances, but probably no closer than 40,000 miles. Details in various chapters and Appendix B.

• The orbit of Earth enlarged four times since 3147 BC: in 2349 BC, 2193 BC, 1492 BC, and 747 BC. See Appendix B, "Celestial Mechanics." Each time the Earth reached a different location from the Sun, it needed to adjust its charge level, and plumes of plasma extended up from the magnetic poles, lasting years.

• Both the north and the south plumes (probably extending up some 10 or 20 Earth diameters) were seen throughout the world. The ends moved with the rotation of the magnetosphere, making them look like they were waving in a wind. The people of Mesoamerica called them trees. Egypt and Mesopotamia called them braziers or flags and recorded them in seals and sculptures. Mesoamerica in two instances provides a count of how many times this happened. The plumes were detected in dark mode plasma in 2009.

• The Earth had equatorial rings until 2349 BC (like all other planets with a magnetic field), called the "Absu" in Sumer and the "Duat" in Egypt (and the "House of Nine Bushes" in Mesoamerica). The Egyptian "doorway to the other world" is the shadow of Earth cast on the equatorial rings, the Duat. This is discussed in a number of places, first in the chapter "The Absu and Speculation" and in more detail in later chapters. The "flood of Noah" consisted of the sudden removal of the equatorial rings, and was accompanied by severe storms and rains.

• The Moon appeared near Earth after 2349 BC, when the Earth's orbit increased, but did not fall into a regular orbit shared with Earth until perhaps about 2280 BC. The legendary emperors (gods) of China, Yao and Shun, are Jupiter and the Moon. Likewise for Abraham and Isaac. These two were depicted in Mesopotamia also, as the victory stele of Naram-Sin, the great grandson of Sargon, showing Jupiter with his mountain.

• While Jupiter was in the asteroid belt, the mountain form of the lower plasma disappeared. Instead, the plasma from Jupiter's south pole extended directly left and right to the asteroids and curved up further away. These are the ram horns of Amun-Ra. It is called the "shen" in its simplest form in Egypt (a circle on a flat line), and is depicted as a boat almost everywhere in antiquity. See the chapter "The Career of Jupiter."

• Jupiter's coma tripled in size in about 2527 BC as it left the asteroid belt, but lost its coma again by 2438 BC. The coma returned in 2349 BC (the "flood of Noah"), but eventually reduced to the visual size of the Moon. In 2150 BC Jupiter flared up (caught on fire) and extinguished.

• The Bible identifies the flare-up of Jupiter as the first "Tower of Babel" event. The date is most likely 2150 BC. There was a similar event involving Mercury, much later and thus better remembered, in 686 BC. It is this last flare-up which was remembered worldwide, and is also identified with the "Tower of Babel."

• The Olmec Long Count calendar was instituted on February 28, 747 BC (astronomical year -747). This is also the first full day of the Babylonian "Era of Nabonasser," and the day before the start of the new Roman calendar. The Olmecs added 2400 Tuns (years of 360 days) to account for the past history in solar years, resulting in a Long Count notation starting at 6.0.0.0.0. This is discussed in the chapter "The Maya Calendar."

• As a result of instituting the Long Count in 747 BC, the Maya/Olmec creation date of 3147 BC is accurate as the date for the terminal event of the polar alignment of Saturn — in solar years. Our use of the date of 3114 BC is based on a year of 365.24 days. Later retrocalculations by the Maya also used a year of 365.24 days.

• The Venus Tablets of Ammizaduga are correctly dated to the period of 689 BC to 667 BC (in Eastern Mediterranean chronology). See the chapters "The Tablets of Ammizaduga" and "The Hour of Phaethon."

• Venus and Mercury blazed like suns in 685 BC (the year corrected from Eastern Mediterranean chronology) for 40 days, as the result of an unprecedented output by the Sun, which was brought on by the sudden reduction in the orbit of Mercury in the year previous. This electrical event changed the inclination of the Earth's axis.

• A thunderbolt from Jupiter which landed at the Sun on July 25, 685 BC brought the blazing of Venus and Mercury to an end. This is what is recounted in the legend of Phaethon. The calendar dates and intervals are recorded by the Chilam Balam and are celebrated in Mesoamerica with site alignments to the corresponding sunsets, and as new year's day.

• In 685 BC the Earth's axis relocated from the center of the pan of Ursa Major to a location nearer Kochab (called "pole star" in ancient sources) in Ursa Minor over a period of 40 days. Discussed in the chapter "The Hour of Phaethon."

• Before 685 BC, the intersection of the equatorial and the ecliptic was directly below the Pleiades. Thus the Pleiades were seen directly above the rising Sun at the spring equinox. This is attested to worldwide, and matches retrocalculations for the previous location of the Earth's rotational axis. There was no precession of the equinoxes before 747 BC.

• In 685 BC the equinoxes moved 15 days into the future. This did not change the length of the year, but it changed religious feast days worldwide. The inclination of the Earth's axis assumed the current value of 23.5 degrees. It was 30 degrees before that time.

• The last part of Book Five of the Sibylline Oracle Books (of AD 115) accurately recounts the changes in the sky in 685 BC. Details can be found in the chapter "Sibylline Star Wars."

• The alignments of ceremonial centers with distant volcanoes in the Olmec region and the Valley of Mexico accurately recall the calendar dates (the horizon locations of the setting Sun) of the catastrophic events of 3147 BC, 2349 BC, 1492 BC, 747 BC, and the axial change of 685 BC. See the chapter "Olmec Site Alignments."

Re: Cook's Saturnian Cosmology

I'm cherry picking bits out of your posts Andrew to help develop my own model, hope you don't mind!
The visible rings around the Earth I like, I'd expect that with a much more active Sun, but
as the result of an unprecedented output by the Sun, which was brought on by the sudden reduction in the orbit of Mercury in the year previous.
in this case I think cause and effect are backwards, as my tensegrity model would have all the planetary orbits being reduced when the Sun was more active. I'd still think much of what was observed though would have been illusion, as the coronas of the planets would also be more energetic, and the processes occurring in Earths and the other planet/moon ionospheres would make things appear much bigger, brighter, or closer than they really were.
I must say though that all the proposed complex movements around the solar system of all those bodies, well, I'd have to say I would see intent in those movements. Woo-woo, or Genesis was a true account??

Re: Cook's Saturnian Cosmology

Hi Gary,

By corona do you mean "coma"? Are these the same things?

I understand that comas exist as a function of both a planet's magnetic field and its atmosphere of gases. A planet must have a magnetic field for a coma to exist. The gases add to the volume or size of the coma.

As I understand it, according to plasma science, there's three modes: dark mode, glow mode, and arc mode. Dark mode is the basis, a condition when there is no electrical agitation with another body. Glow mode happens when there's an electrical interaction with the Sun or another close by planet. Arc mode is Thunderbolt time and visible plasma columns linking the two bodies.

I think you're right that these comas or coronas would make a planet appear bigger and thus closer to Earth, but this would only happen when it was being agitated by another body so that the glow mode turned on. I think this was happening during the era of the gods, particularly with Mercury (per Cook) or Venus (per Talbott) as the iris in the eye.

Another example are the Venus figurines that show Saturn and the conjunct planets in separate glow mode comas, as bubbles of fat - you know the Michelin tire man!

As for finding intent in all these planetary movements, that's one for the soothsayers. To me, it sure looks like it was part of humanity's wake up call. IMO, we're still dealing with deeply suppressed traumas - How about renaming our species homo schizo?. I can surely see how we humans invented the concept of gods, trying to make sense of the catastrophes. Wondering why me???? And not my neighbor? Did I do something wrong to be showered with a rain of rocks, splattered by sheets of steady fire lightning, and engulfed by a tsunami?

I must have...maybe I should see a priest and ask him to make it stop...

I need to offer something to the priest who says he can make it go away....he wants gold, and says he wants my soul, and maybe my first born child...

Re: Cook's Saturnian Cosmology

In Cook's chapter entitled, The Nevada Conference, he lists a group of "New Postulates" related to Saturn's historical interactions with our current solar system. This history differs from that presented by Talbott and Thornhill. This is the chapter from which I quote:

http://www.saturniancosmology.org/nevada.php

1) Earth, Mars, and Neptune (and possibly the Moon) were all planets (satellites) of the star Saturn, and had been orbiting Saturn for billions of years since their creation when, shortly before the Cambrian, 560 million years ago, Saturn intersected with the Solar System — perhaps for the first time.

2) Saturn swept around the Sun like a comet, to return every 26,000,000 or 27,000,000 years, still with the original planets in tow.

3) Over time, some of Saturn's planets were captured by the Sun. This happened to Earth after the Permian, 250 million years ago.

4) The return of Saturn at 27,000,000-year intervals was responsible for the periodic extinctions which the Earth has experienced since the Cambrian. On traveling through the plasmasphere of the Sun, Saturn would attempt to discharge to any nearby objects, including, of course, Earth. (This would be true whether Earth traveled with Saturn as a satellite, or Earth was already orbiting the Sun.)

5) Extinctions were thus most likely to have been caused by an initial electrical repulsive shock followed by massive electrical discharges (arcing) from Saturn when at or near perihelion in its path around the Sun.

6) The specificity of the extent of many extinctions can probably be attributed to the different locations of the strike point of the arcing from Saturn (on land, shallow sea, or ocean), and the fact that at different times the contact would have varied with the chance location of Saturn and the position of Earth.

7) It might even be suggested that plasma discharges to Earth decreased over time, being perhaps massive at the start of the Cambrian, then lessening sporadically, with another large hit (so to speak) at the end of the Permian.

8) Saturn may have been responsible for the development of all life (speciation) after the Cambrian, and especially the complex species which have developed since that time.

9) Speciation probably took place during or after every extinction period, although it might have taken many thousands of years before new species stabilized and would show up in the record.

10) The fact that Saturn was never deflected by the Solar System planet Jupiter would be explained by the fact that in 560,000,000 years Saturn would have entered the Solar System only 19 or 20 times.

11) Once the period of Saturn was significantly reduced at 6 or 3 million years ago, bringing it closer to the Sun more frequently (of which we have both physical and written records), smaller planets of the Sun would have a much greater chance of being captured into a sub-polar or supra-polar orbit by Saturn. This is the only stable location for planets which encounter Saturn on its periodic sweep through the inner region of the Solar System. In fact, it would be likely that over time all the smaller inner planets would be captured in this manner. Only planets further away from the Sun would be safe from this because they would be less likely to encounter Saturn.

Re: Cook's Saturnian Cosmology

OK, here we go...

I'm at the Marriott in Albuquerque tonight, with the conference to start tomorrow afternoon. I saw Wal Thornhill, Dave Talbott and friends enjoying their camaraderie with friends and acquaintances tonight. I'm excited to meet them.

Jno Cook is arriving tomorrow. He'll be here to take your questions and regale you...

The buzz is that Talbott seems to be reintroducing the theme of Apocalypse and the Catastrophes caused by the planetary instabilities, which previously has been much associated with Velikovsky's work. His 3 minute video/short entitled "Ancient Origins of Doomsday Anxiety" points to this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8okS2qeNnmU

Also in evidence is the "Official Movie" re-release of the 2004, hour long Thunderbolts of the Gods movie. Talbott has put it up on this site Dec. 27, 2012. Here it is:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... AUA7XS0TvA

So what's up??

Are we going to be treated to a new and deeper inquiry into planetary chronology? Are we going to draw back the curtain and look at the many time periods of instability and their specific planetary impacts, per Cook's wide ranging efforts? Or will this be a reaffirmation that these catastrophes be relegated to the end of the era of the gods, as it appears the Thunderbolts have left it previously?

Stay tuned. This should be a dynamic affair. I hope Cook gets some recognition for what he has already compiled.

And I personally hope we can create an open book effort, with many people contributing in this discovery and not bring it to a close prematurely. Perhaps I am overly optimistic. There is much to take a look at and much to discuss.

And hovering above us all will be Immanuel Velikovsky's ghost, rubbing his hands, eager to see where we take this.
