Antarctic ice has shown long-term growth
  • Antarctic sea ice has shown long term growth since satellites began measurements in 1979.
  • local cooling is possible with global warming
    • Global warming doesn't mean that all parts of the globe will warm at the same rate.
  • this is due to local changes in heat transport - not global cool...
    • Antarctic sea ice is not growing because of cooling temperatures. In fact, the Southern Ocean has been warming faster than other oceans in the world. The predominant reason that sea ice is increasing is due to a decrease in upward ocean heat transport.
