Abstract:		This paper articulates the mechanism by which a huge current enters the earth at the poles, imparting momentum to the Earth to rotate about its axis and around the Sun. It derives the gravitational basis for the acceleration of ion clouds ("solar wind") towards the Earth and their tendency to gravitate to the poles, creating the aurorae.
