Genesis 42

 

36 And Jacob their father said to them, "You have bereaved me of my children: Joseph is no more, and Simeon is no more, and now you would take Benjamin.

Simeon particpated in some of the conflicts described in Judges 1, which I'm saying occurred in the period of 1306~1288 bce, while in this passage Simeon has already died, which is consistent with the move to Egypt for Jacob's clan being in 1288 bce.

 

But then in this passage, it sounds like Simeon was still alive...

Genesis 43

 

23 He replied, "Peace to you, do not be afraid. Your God and the God of your father has put treasure in your sacks for you. I received your money." Then he brought Simeon out to them.

Was Simeon in Egypt with Joseph?
