Why would +ions flow out, instead of electrons flowing in?

What prevents the instantaneous discharge of all of the potential?

What replenishes the positive charges, resulting in a steady discharge for a long time?

What resistance do +ions encounter in the chromosphere, resulting in ohmic heating?

If the resistance is in the chromosphere, why do the photons emanate from the photosphere?
