GW is human-made (anthropogenic).

CO₂ is a green-house gas, which means that it can capture heat streaming in from the Sun. Therefore, the more CO₂ in the atmosphere, the hotter it gets.

 

CO2 steadily increased 1940~1970, but the temperature decreased.
