Creating a New Post
To quote another post in your reply:
  1. Select the text.
  2. Click the Action Menu icon (), and select the New Inside option ().
  3. Enter the text of the post.
  4. Give the post an appropriate title.
  5. Check the insert marker in source post box to put a footnote marker in the post that you quoted, at the end of the section that you quoted. Then, when people are reading the source post, they'll see that a reply to that statement has been made, and they can hover their mouses over the footnote marker to see the comment.
  6. Click Submit.
To create a post without a quote:
  1. Click the Post Reply button.
  2. Enter the text of the post.
  3. Give the post an appropriate title.
  4. Click Submit.
Note that in QDL, it's easy for thread owners to reorganize threads, by simply cut-n-pasting posts. This is really useful for merging posts on a related topic, or for splitting posts into different threads when the discussion went off on a new tangent. To make this easy, please attempt to do individual posts for individual ideas. So while on any other site you might be accustomed to making long posts containing many different ideas, on QDL you're encouraged to split each idea into a separate post. It actually makes it easier to read anyway.

And if you quoted another post in your reply, you should limit the scope of that reply to just that which pertains directly to the quote. If you have more to say on other issues, you should do separate posts for those.

For easy access to the thread in the future, you can paste a link to it into your Sandbox.
