Process Evaluation for Catastrophism Conference
© Lloyd

The Conference was held yesterday, 11/12/15

I think the purpose of having these conferences was to experiment with ways to improve science discussions and to develop a process for separating Observations from Theories, so the Observations can be better used for further science and analysis. I forgot to include discussion of Observations in the conference agenda this time, but I'll try to do that in the near future.

The conference had just 3 participants, but the discussion went rather well, though it lasted longer than anticipated. We hoped to end it after one hour, but it went over two hours. But discussion seemed productive, so we took advantage of the opportunity to be somewhat thorough.

The quality of the discussion seemed rather very good. Ten basic questions were prepared in advance. After most of those were given brief answers, we discussed two of them in quite a bit more detail. There wasn't too much idol time.

We did have trouble several times finding out where each other was working on the page. There's a chat box on the side which was used sometimes to ask where everyone was at.

The Etherpads seem to be very good for having productive science discussion. But we don't have an efficient way yet, that I know of, to list Observations separately from Theories.

After rereading Charles' Idea Method above, it looks like we did follow that method rather well, for the first phase anyway.
