Abstract:		Old Testament Parallels offers teachers and students a readable, affordable, and portable anthology of ancient Near Eastern texts related to the Bible that are dynamically equivalent in the way in which they were heard, and felt, and understood in their own worlds. The third edition reflects ongoing work and new discoveries, expands many of the existing parallels, adds new parallels, and enlarges the anthology to sixty-three selections. This fully revised edition includes: parallels arranged by the canonical order of the Old Testament and outlined chronologically within each chapter; introductions describing the physical appearance of each text, its language, where it was recovered, where it is preserved today, and a summary of its contents; a subject index of personal names, place-names, and general topics; a selective bibliography; and an outline of the history of Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Israel.
