You can create a discussion thread anywhere in QDL. Sometimes it makes sense to just add a thread to an existing forum, but sometimes it makes sense to facilitate a discussion at the end of an article. So QDL allows you to put threads anywhere you want, and it's up to you to make it clear what is going on to your readers.

 

To create a thread:

1. If there isn't an existing thread specifically addressing your topic...
2. Create a post the way you would any other post. (In the root of a forum, there will be an Start New Thread button. Elsewhere, there might be an Add Comment button. Whatever it is, click it.)
3. Enter a title for the thread, that's short but descriptive.
4. In the body of the post, enter a brief description of the topic of the thread.
5. Click Submit.
6. Click the Action Menu icon (), and next to the Metadata option (), click edit.
7. In the Data Type section, select Post Reply for the "new post" button.
8. Click Submit.
9. Now any new posts will show in forum style.
10. Click the Post Reply button to create the first post.
