History is written by the victors, so a lot of it is slanted, instead of straight truth.

In the late 1800s the Theory of Evolution as "Survival of the Fittest"
was used to justify ruthless "capitalism" or greed, which is wealth hoarding.
In the early 1900s it was similarly used to justify ruthless "communism" and later ruthless "Naziism".
All of those were forms of classism and racism, defended as "natural selection".

About the same time, late 1800s to early 1900s, ruthless "capitalists"
learned how to hire agents to run for major public offices in the U.S.
and, when elected, to have them make laws favorable to the capitalists instead of the common good.

At that time they also began to take over the major science magazines and science textbook companies.
And they twisted science to say whatever they wished.
